Although the women of the United States are confined within the narrow circle of domestic life, and their situation is, in some respects, one of extreme dependence, I have nowhere seen woman occupying a loftier position; and if I were asked... in which I have spoken of so many important things done by Americans, to what the singular prosperity and growing strength of that people ought mainly to be attributed, I should reply, To the superiority of their women.

Coach Dave Sets the Kent Hovind Record Straight

I've been confused about what Kent Hovind was actually accused with. Here Coach Dave Daubenmire puts in plain English. Currently, he is in jail for structuring and is on trial for mail fraud for not hand carrying his court appeals to the court (because he's in jail). He is also charged with contempt for continuing to appeal. He was within his legal rights to do both these things. There are no charges right now for tax issues or anything like that.

  1. Coach Dave has no idea what he's talking about. Kent Hovind was convicted of 12 counts of failing to withhold income and Social Security taxes for his employees for the years 2001, 2002 and 2003. It's not all about structuring. You can read that in the sentencing transcript at pages 9-10, which I doubt Daubenmire has read: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7xx1i23rg7yyv9u/Complete%20Kent%20Hovind%20Sentencing%20Transcript%2001-19-07.pdf?dl=0

Also, Hovind's properties were seized *after* he was found guilty on the structuring charges. The jury had to go back and look at that separately and decide on the forfeiture. Dave would know that if he read volume 9 of the jury transcript, but he didn't do that either. (https://www.dropbox.com/s/rydxwv235e673xu/Trial%20Transcripts%20Vol%20IX.pdf?dl=0 at pages 157-162) So, not the same as the IRS just coming in and seizing money without due process. Kent Hovind got his due process in spades, and he appealed on top of that.

The rest of it is sheer hooey. You can read an opinion piece I wrote for the Pensacola News Journal that lays out the facts of the 2006 conviction and why Hovind is on trial again. It's not the story that Dancing Dave Daubenmire will tell you. http://pnj.com/story/opinion/2015/03/05/viewpoint-hovind-prosecuted-persecuted/24429591/

    1. This particular trial was not about the original case, but about mail fraud and contempt of court.

Zooming out a a level, when pedos like Jeffery Epstein get a mere 18 months in prison and are transferring millions here and there no questions asked, the double standard is apparent. There are lots of examples of connected people doing 20x what Kent is accused of and nothing happens, hence the outrage.

  2. Much more to this story, as is often the case:

    1. Charges were dropped. Kent tried avoiding the 501c3 free speech restrictions and paid for it. Contractors get paid more because they are expected to pay their own FICA. Does what Kent did justify solitary confinements and diesel therapy when white collar criminals run amok after ferrying millions of dollars here and there into ether?
