For those of you who haven't heard, the Ron Paul campaign announced that it would not be spending money in the primary states, but focusing its resources on the delegate process in states where delegates could be gained in open, parliamentary process. This strategy has proven to be very successful. Let's just say Mitt is having to spend some money on lawyers to try to handle all the upsets. Why would he do that if he's got it in the bag?

What's going on is that Ron Paul supporters are using Robert's Rules of Order in conjunction with vibrant attendance, not only to vote for Ron Paul delegates to advance to the state, and then national delegate levels. Equally important is that Ron Paul activists are becoming duly elected into Republican Party leadership positions. You see, the vast, vast majority of political junkies only follow national politics by listening to Rush or Shammity or FoxNews. These outlets never, ever tell their listeners how local poltics work or how their listeners can really influence policy in America at the local level. Isn't that interesting? All the b*tching and moaning about liberals, but these tools never once did a little research to give you real solutions to any of it. Just vote for the chosen RNC candidate and everything will be great! What? They didn't reduce the government? It the the fault of those pesky liberals!! What? They voted for Medicare Part D? Well, they were pressured in to it because if they didn't, they wouldn't be invited to the cocktail parties and the media would laugh at them. That's the kind of crappy explanations that Rush Limbaugh would dole out when the conservatives we'd been pulling for would sell us out.

I've had enough. I've got enough sense to realize that Obama and Romney are employees of the same institution - central banking. The nice organization that is underwriting the TSA, unnamed, armed drones, etc-- basically world-wide tyranny.  I won't be apart of it - get me?

Highway Robbery in Tennessee

Via Lew Rockwell, the story of a NJ businessmen traveling home with a large amount of cash from a car he had sold on Ebay:

In Tennessee, forfeiture proceedings are conducted ex parte, which means that the judge only heard the thief's side of the story. Reby didn't learn about the hearing until well after the fact — and if he hadn't gone to the media, it's likely he would have lost his money permanently. He had to travel back to Tennessee in order to get a check that was reluctantly written by a police department that refused to apologize for robbing him at gunpoint. Spectacles of this kind are common on Interstate 40 in Tennessee, where officers from two drug task forces prowl the highway in search of cash they can seize through civil asset forfeiture. Kim Helper, District Attorney for Tennessee's 21st Judicial District, insists that the highway robbery scheme is "a way for us to continue to fund our operations so that we can put an end to drug trafficking and the drug trade within this district." Of course, those two objectives — "continued funding" and "an end to drug trafficking" — are mutually incompatible.

By the way, this guy was from the Monterrey Police Department, trolling on I-40 in case you're coming through that way. Want some irony? Larry Bates was awarded Officer of the Year. Maybe he was bringin' home the bacon:

 Oh and did I mention that cops are paid out of the loot?

As Nashville's CBS affiliate reported last year, the salaries paid to the officers involved in this highway robbery ring are paid directly out of the cash and other assets seized by them; this means that police often find themselves competing to stop and shake down the same cars, sometimes nearly coming to blows in the process.

You see if you have cash at all, it could have been obtained from selling drugs. That makes you suspicious. Never-mind that Wachovia was caught red-handed laundering drug money through Miami and got a slap on the wrist. If you wanted to stop narcotics trafficking, you'd attempt to stop it at the source by following the money back. There is billions and billions in drug money coming across the border. That's a lot of briefcases {eyeroll}. It's being deposited into the Fed Cartel banks like Wachovia and probably propping them up more than any of us realize. When Gary Webb broke the story that the CIA was responsible for introducing crack to America, he swiftly became depressed and committed suicide by shooting himself twice.

According to the Russian Navosti:

Drug money has become a necessary part of the international monetary system and one of the sources of the financial crisis. The world's largest banks depend on "dirty" but liquid money from drug sales and indirectly encourage the further production of drugs.

Anyone remember when California was going to legalize pot and that Russian big wig came over and said, that's a really, really bad idea. This is because the governments/central banks of the worlds are dependent on drug money and its liquidity to keep themselves propped up.

But the point of this post is to beware how we have a separate standards for people wearing a uniform that leads to predatory behavior. We also are seeing a war on cash. Possession of cash = possession of narcotics.

Ghost Voting in TN and Elsewhere

This is happening all over the nation. The state legislatures have so many laws to pass they don't have time for bathroom breaks.Instead of doing the trucker thing with milk jugs (pee bombs aren't dignified), they get their deskmates to vote for them. This practice extends to lunch breaks, and eventually, they just tag team it.

The legislative rules say all members casting votes are supposed to be in their own seats. But lawmakers say that rule is rarely enforced.
The House clerk told NewsChannel 5 that this courtesy is given to lawmakers so they can get up to take care of legislative business or even go to the bathroom.
This story has already generated a lot of buzz on Capitol Hill in this final days of the session and even some fallout.

In fact, in Tennessee, the art of ghost voting is highly sophisticated - involving the employment of sticks to punch the buttons around you. In one article, House Speaker Beth Harwell was asked about this practice:

"What's the deal with the sticks?"
"I'm not familiar with the sticks," she said.
"You're saying you have not seen the sticks?"
"I'm not familiar with the sticks, no," Harwell said.
These sticks come in all shapes and sizes and seem to make voting for others a lot easier.
Incredibly, she claimed not to know about them, but just days earlier and just feet from Harwell, retiring Rep. Mike McDonald, D-Portland, made a big deal of passing his on. In front of the entire House, he announced, "I wanted to present this voting stick to my deskmate."

Ouch, that guy McDonald is from my hometown and has been a representative forever.

You heard it, they've got so many laws to make, they can't stop to eat and go to the bathroom. Now to a sane person, you might conclude that maybe they just have too many votes!! For the love of all that's holy, STOP passing laws, start REPEALING laws. sheesh.

Happy Mother's Day

Enjoy this essay highlighting the Mother of Christ who humbled herself to care for the Lord Himself. There's a message there for us regular mothers taking care of ordinary humans - it's part of His ordained Plan. You'll be a lot better off following the Plans of the omniscient, omnipotent creator of the universe than going man's way. Just sayin'.


The Mother of the Lord

We see her first, that little Mary (may I say little? I think she was a teenager), as a simple village girl in a poor home in an out-of-the-way place. She is bending over her work when suddenly the light changes. She raises her eyes. A dazzling stranger stands before her with a puzzling greeting. He calls her "most favored one" and tells her the Lord is with her. She is stunned. I don't believe her thought is of herself (Who am I? or Am I ever lucky!). Mary is troubled. She discerns at once that this has to do with things infinitely larger than herself, far beyond her understanding. What can it mean?

The angel does not weigh in immediately with the stupendous message he has been sent to deliver. He first comforts her. "Don't be afraid, Mary." Mary. She is not a stranger to him. He is assuring her that he has the right person. He explains what she has been chosen for--to be the mother of the Son of the Most High, a king whose reign will be forever. She has one question now--not about the Most High, not about an eternal king--those are things too high for her--but motherhood is another matter. She understands motherhood, has been looking forward to it with great happiness. Her question is about that: "How can this be? I am still a virgin." He does not really explain. He simply states a mystery: "The power of the Most High will overshadow you." He goes on to tell her of another miraculous pregnancy, that of her old cousin Elisabeth, well past child-bearing age. "God's promises can never fail," he says. They won't fail for you, Mary. Rest assured.

How will the girl respond? She is at once totally at the disposal of her Lord (she sees that the visitor is from Him). Whatever the mystery, whatever the divine reasons for choosing her, whatever the inconveniences, even disasters (broken engagement? stoning to death--the punishment of a fornicator?) which she may be required to face, her answer is unequivocal and instant: "Here I am. I am the Lord's servant; let it be as you have told me." Anything, Lord.

We see her next with Elisabeth, who, by the manner of Mary's greeting and by her own baby's sudden movement in her womb, knows immediately that God has chosen Mary to be the mother of the Lord. They don't sit down over coffee and chatter about the gynecology or the practical logistics or what people are going to say. Mary sings her song of gladness, of thoroughgoing acceptance of the gift, of trust in the Mighty One.

We see her sweating in the cold of the stable, putting her own life on the line, as every mother must do, in order to give life to somebody else. We see her with the tough shepherds, breathlessly telling their story of the glory of the Lord and the singing of the angel choir. Everyone else is astonished (a word which comes from "thunderstruck"), but Mary does not join the excited babble. She is quiet, treasuring all these things, pondering them deep in her heart. We see her with the mysterious travelers from the East bringing their lavish gifts. She says nothing as they kneel before the baby she holds in her arms. We see her on the donkey again, on the roundabout journey to Egypt because her husband has been given a secret message in a dream. She does not balk, she does not argue.

We see her in the temple handing over her baby to old Simeon, to whom the Holy Spirit has revealed the child's amazing destiny: a revelation to the heathen, glory to Israel. But to Mary he gives the far deeper message of suffering, for there is no glory that is not bought by suffering: her son will suffer--he will be a sign which men reject; she, his mother, will suffer, will be pierced to the heart. No question or answer from her is recorded. Again we know only her silence.

We see nothing of her for twelve years--days and nights, weeks and months, years and years of caring for the infant, the toddler, the little boy, the adolescent. There is no mention of any of that. Mary has no witness, no limelight, no special recognition of any kind. She is not Mother of the Year. Hers is a life lived in the ordinary necessity of their poverty and their humanity, no one paying attention to her attention to Him. Whatever the level of her comprehension as to the nature of this boy, she knows He was given to her. She remembers how. She treasures all this. She ponders things in the silence of her heart. Did she share any of them with Joseph? Could she? Could he receive them? We know next to nothing of the dynamics between them. She was content to be silent before God.

The apostle Paul tells us we are "hidden with Christ in God" (Colossians 3:3, NIV}. There is mystery there, but when I think of the life of Mary, I see some facets of that mystery that I missed when I read the apostle. Hers was a hidden life, a faithful one, a holy one--holy in the context of a humble home in a small village where there was not very much diversion. She knew that the ordinary duties were ordained for her as much as the extraordinary way in which they became her assignment. She struck no poses. She was the mother of a baby, willing to be known simply as his mother for the rest of her life. He was an extraordinary baby, the Eternal Word, but His needs were very ordinary, very daily, to his mother. Did she imagine that she deserved to be the chosen mother? Did she see herself as fully qualified? Surely not. Surely not more than any other woman who finds herself endowed with the awesome gift of a child. It is the most humbling experience of a woman's life, the most revealing of her own helplessness. Yet we know this mother, Mary, the humble virgin from Nazareth, as "Most Highly Exalted."

I am thanking God that unto us a Child was born. I am thanking Him also that there was a pure-hearted woman prepared to receive that Child with all that motherhood would mean of daily trust, daily dependence, daily obedience. I thank Him for her silence. That spirit is not in me at all, not naturally. I want to learn what she had learned so early: the deep guarding in her heart of each event, mulling over its meaning from God, waiting in silence for His word to her.

I want to learn, too, that it is not an extraordinary spirituality that makes one refuse to do ordinary work, but a wish to prove that one is not ordinary--which is a dead giveaway of spiritual conceit. I want to respond in unhesitating obedience as she did: Anything You say, Lord.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Book Review: Operation Dark Heart

For my Mother's Day present, I got myself, the controversial book by Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer, Operation Dark Heart. I went into the Books a Million where my husband said there was nothing there I'd want. He was almost right. Basically, the whole place is full of fluffy non-informative time killing books, magazines, and half of it was a gift shop with games. But they did have one copy of this one, so I picked it up. And I'll tell you what, it was a real page-turner. Lt. Col. Shaffer was brutally honest with himself and I don't know if I would have the courage to put that much of myself out there in print. Just want you to know, it's not some dry military tactic book, but his heart-felt experiences in Afghanistan, with some flashback to his time before 9/11.

Even though this book's manuscript had passed the Army's review process, just as it was to be shipped, the Defense Department came on the scene, saying parts of the book may impact "national security". As you read the book, a gigantic riff between regular Army and the Defense Dept, specifically the Defense Intelligence Agency will become apparent. So as you read the book, you'll encounter lots of blacked out redactions, that only pique the curiosity more. The point this makes, is that this story is one they don't want told, which is why you ought to check it out that much more.
